A letter from our CEO

A $12 Million Investment in MapsPeople and Spatial Experience.

We just raised millions to invest in something that matters deeply to us — experiences.

When you think of MapsPeople today, you probably think about indoor maps. But what I really want you to think about is indoor experiences.

See, an indoor map is just a tool. A visual tool to help someone solve a problem. Like:

  • Finding a desk or a meeting room
  • Understanding where I am right now or how to get from A to B
  • Looking at heat maps or visualizing space for optimization

And an indoor map absolutely is a great tool — for the right use cases.

But expectations are rising and use cases are growing.

Everyone expects faster, more precise answers than ever before.

  • When I’m at a stadium, it's nice to see all the restaurants on the map. But what I really care about is where I can get a spicy burrito.
  • When I’m heading to the office, it’s not enough to just see a map with all the avaliable desks I can book. I want the system to book me a desk by my co-workers and re-book my meetings in nearby rooms.
  • When I’m rushing to catch a flight, a map showing where my gate is doesn’t cut it. I need to know if I’m going to miss my flight because it’s a 7 minute walk + 12 minute queue at passport control.

An indoor map alone can't answer those questions.

But using the underlying spatial data from the map can — if you combine it with other technologies.

That’s why we are expanding our platform with a richer underlying data model.

This houses all your spatial data and allows you to use it with whatever technology you like. For example:

  • An AI chatbot to enrich answers with spatial awareness
  • A desk booking solution that understands time and distance
  • Or the visual indoor map with search and wayfinding

We want to deliver the indoor experience your customers, visitors and employees expect.

Apex Group Technologies invested $12 million in us to accelerate just that.

By partnering with Toronto-based Apex Group Technologies and Round 13, we have a $500M+ private equity fund behind us.

Their investment allows us to strengthen what we have already begun:

Not only delivering high-quality, interactive indoor maps — but also helping our customers use their spatial data to deliver on a whole new set of use cases.

This is where we’re headed.

From building indoor maps to powering indoor experiences.

I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead.

P.S. Check out how far we have come on the journey by listening to our video podcast, Spatial Experience Design. See highlighted episodes below.

Episode #1
What is Spatial Experience (and why is it happening now?)

Spatial Experience Design is a shift in mindset, not just a shift in tools. Now is the moment to move beyond static floor plans toward environments that have spatial context and are responsive to human behavior.

Episode #2
From 2D to 4D: The Evolution of Indoor Mapping

We've moved from simple 2D navigation tools to complex, multi-layered environments. Let’s dive into what’s changed—technically and culturally—that makes this digital evolution both possible and necessary.

Episode #8
5 No-Brainer Ways to Take Spatial Data Beyond Maps

Think spatial data is just for wayfinding? Think again. We have five no-brainer use cases that go beyond maps—from dynamic desk booking to foot traffic analytics—and we’ll show you how this data is already reshaping digital environments.

Episode #13
Don’t Build Another App—Craft the Experience

UX in spatial design is about understanding behavior, minimizing friction, and embedding value. Our approach centers on embedding digital value into physical environments, ensuring that user interactions are smooth and meaningful.

Episode #16
Live Demo: Gemini AI That Understands Spatial Data Like Never Before

Watch AI interpret spatial data in real time—no prompts, no coding. We demo how MapsIndoors’ integration with Gemini makes spatial environments more intelligent and usable without reinventing the wheel.
